Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The government is going to reopen its full-fledged embassy in Brazil soon, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and promote trade and commerce between the two countries.
This was revealed when outgoing Brazilian Ambassador in Dhaka Ricardo Luiz Viana De Carvalho met President Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban in the capital Dhaka on Thursday.
During the meeting, the President said a high-level business delegation, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, would visit Brazil in June next to attend the World Trade Conference.
The outgoing envoy hoped the bilateral relations between the two countries would be strengthened further in the days to come.
President Zillur urged the Brazilian businessmen and entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh and import world-class Bangladeshi products at competitive prices.
Describing Brazil as a friendly country, Zillur said there are many Bangladeshis who are the fans of Brazil’s football team. “Brazilian flags are often seen on the rooftop of each home in Bangladesh during the World Football Cup tournament,” he said.
Ambassador Ricardo Luiz Viana De Carvalho informed that Brazilian entrepreneurs are very keen to invest in Bangladesh.
He appreciated the rapid economic progress and development made by Bangladesh during the last couples of years and said the government efforts in this regard are praiseworthy.
De Carvalho also lauded the role of Bangladesh government in conducting the global climate change programs and noted that the Climate Change program actually initiated from Brazil’s Rio Conference held in 1992.
The outgoing envoy expressed his gratitude to and thanked the President for his support and cooperation during his tenure in Bangladesh.
Secretaries to the President’s office were present on the occasion.
