Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh and the United States are set to hold their first official meeting in September this year to discuss entire range of issues between the two countries.

Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dipu Moni told reporters on Wednesday about her meeting with the U.S. secretary of state referring to her telephonic conversation with Hilary Clinton.

Hilary Clinton called Dipu Moni on Tuesday evening.

Hilary Clinton will lead the U.S. side at the talks which would be held either in New York, NY or Washington, DC around the time of the U.N. General Assembly.

“It’s not going to be a sideline meeting of the UN General Assembly — it will be a full-fledged bilateral meeting,” Dipu Moni said while reply to a query.

She also said agenda of the talks will now be prepared.

Before the meeting in September, the Bangladesh foreign minister expects to meet Hilary at the ASEAN Regional Forum meeting towards the end of July.

During the conversation, Hilary recollected her last meeting with Dipu Moni in The Hague during the International Conference on Afghanistan and hoped to meet her in the forthcoming 16th ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting this month.

The U.S. Secretary of State termed South Asia as the region of opportunity and expressed her keen interest to foster greater cooperation with this region.
