Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The export of readymade garment (RMG) is expected to get a boost to Brazil as the Latin American country is emerging as a prospective market for Bangladeshi apparels.
Acting president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) M Siddiqur Rahman held a meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Brazil M Shameem Ahsan at the BGMEA office in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.
During the meeting, they discussed issues relating to the RMG market expansion in Brazil.
Mr. Siddiqur informed the High Commissioner about the barriers to having access to Brazilian market, especially tariff and non-tariff barriers, and sought due role in removing the barriers.
He said the BGMEA has been working hard to expand Bangladesh’s RMG market in the Latin America.
Three market searching delegations visited Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Chili, Mexico and Columbia, and held talks with the business leaders there during the last three years, he added.
