Chittagong, Bangladesh (BBN) - The country’s two bourses – the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – are going to change trading hours soon, authorities said.
Under the proposed trading hours, the bourses will start trading from 10:30 am in stead of 11:00 am, half an hour ahead of the present timing, to 2:30 pm.
Leaders of the DSE and CSE at a joint press conference at Chittagong Bhatiari Golf Club on Saturday said the new schedule would come into force at a suitable time.
DSE President Rakibur Rahman said they will ensure transparency and accountability in share transactions, increase management efficiency and reduce risks at the clients' end.
He said they will take all possible steps to make the capital market stable and go ahead through discussions and cooperation with the concerned authorities. "We want a strong capital market, this time," he said.
The time for purchasing 30 percent share of the companies by their directors will not be extended beyond May 22, he added.
CSE President Al Maruf Khan also addressed the meet while directors of both the bourses were present.
