Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dipu Moni MP met President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali, on Friday at the Conference Palace in Makkah.
On the first day of her four-day official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Saudi Royal Guest, various important issues of mutual interests were discussed in the meeting.
While the foreign minister assisted by the Ambassador Shahidul Islam, Consul General of Bangladesh to Jeddah Nazmul Islam and Counsellor Mr. Bodiruzzaman, the IDB President was accompanied by the Vice President and Director (SFID), a foreign ministry press statement said in Dhaka on Saturday.
The foreign minister highlighted the development activities of Bangladesh taken by the present government of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In reply, the IDB President appreciated the government of Bangladesh for its relentless efforts to develop all sectors particularly in Power, infrastructure and economic sectors are very distinct.
Dipu Moni extended her gratitude to the IDB President for his continued support and cooperation extended to Bangladesh in its various development programs.
She particularly mentioned about some ongoing projects in the infrastructure sector mentioning about the flyover at Mouchak, Dhaka, Power Generation projects in Ashugong and Bhola financed by IDB.
The foreign minister described Bangladesh as a safe and attractive destination for foreign investment. She requested the IDB president to use his good office to encourage more foreign investment in Bangladesh.
She also sought more support from the IDB in the development projects of the country which are also offing. The Foreign Minister performed Jumadul Bida at the Haram Sharif and performed holy Umrah in the evening.
The foreign minister is scheduled to meet His Royal Highness Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz on 28 August in Riyadh, the statement added.
