Bangladesh’s foreign minister receives Mother Teresa Award

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Foreign Minister Dipu Moni has received the Mother Teresa International Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to social welfare and administrative works.
Award Committee president Anthony Arun Biswas handed over the award to Dipu Moni at a function in Kalkata on Sunday, a Foreign Ministry statement said on Monday.
Former governor of West Bengal and former chief justice of Kalkata High Court Shaymol Sen, Minister for Consumer Affairs of West Bengal government Sadhan Pande, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Tarique A Karim and Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Kalkata Abida Islam, were, among others, present at the function.
Expressing her deep respect for Mother Teresa, Dipu Moni said she has been honored for the award and thanked the committee for their nomination. She said the close relationship between the people of Bangladesh and West Bengal was evident and it had been proved during Bangladesh's war of independence in 1971.
