Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Garment Shramik Sanghati Federation has demanded that the wages, unpaid dues and festival allowances of readymade garment workers are paid by September 25.

The demand came at a human chain staged by the group in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.

Addressing the protest the organization’s general secretary Smriti Akter alleged that the factory authorities deducted BDT 500 from the workers’ wages every month citing insurance payment, though they are yet to get any insurance money.

The organisation also demanded a 10-day holiday for workers on the occasions of Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja.

Jago Bangladesh Garments Shramik Federation president Bahran-e-Sultan Bahar, Garment Shramik Sanghati Federation leaders M Kausar, M Jahangir and Runa Akter also addressed the human chain.
