Bangladesh’s GDP Growth Rises to 6.12% in Q3 of FY’24

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Country’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth rose to 6.12 per cent in the third quarter of fiscal year (FY), 2023-24, from 2.30 per cent in the same of the FY’23, according to the provisional data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Tuesday.

The GDP growth was 3.78 per cent in the immediate past quarter of October-December period of the outgoing FY’24.

The agriculture sector's contribution to the GDP saw a big jump from 1.88 per cent in the third quarter of FY’23 to 5.46 per cent in the third quarter of outgoing fiscal year.

Growth in the industrial sector, which accounts for around 33 per cent of the GDP, jumped to 7.03 percent in the January-March quarter of FY’24 while it was 4.98 per cent during the same period a year ago.

Besides, growth in the services sector, which makes up 53 per cent of the GDP, also rose to 4.97 per cent in the same quarter of FY’24 from the previous year's 1.47 per cent.

Bangladesh's GDP growth was projected at 5.82 per cent for the FY’24.
