Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s Regent Textile dominated the turnover chart of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) this week that ended on Thursday as investors were active on its shares.
The total transaction on the DSE stood at Tk 31.03 billion on the day, which was 34 percent higher than the previous week’s value of Tk 23.17 billion.
Regent Textile, LankaBangla Finance, Paramount Textile, Nurani Dyeing, IFAD Autos, Argon Denims, Aamra Technologies, BDCOM Online, Beximco Pharma and Brac Bank were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE this week.
Of them, share price of nine companies advanced up to 13.59 percent while one faced mild correction of 0.27 percent.
According to statistics available with the DSE, some 42.91 million Regent Textile shares were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 1.30 billion, which was 4.19 percent of the week’s total transaction value.
The daily average turnover for the company was BDT 260 million.
The textile maker’s share price closed at BDT 31, registering an increase of 12.32 percent over the previous week.
Regent Textile, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2015, disbursed 10 percent cash and 5.0 percent stock dividend for the 18 months period that ended on June 30, 2016.
The company has also reported (un-audited) third quarter earnings per share (EPS) of BDT 0.30 for January-March period of 2017 as against BDT 0.27 for the same quarter in the previous year.
In nine months for July, 2016-March, 2017, EPS was BDT 0.83 as against BDT 0.68 for July, 2015-March, 2016.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 1.15 billion and authorised capital is BDT 1.50 billion, while the total number of securities is 115.50 million.
Sponsor-directors own 54.54 percent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 7.76 percent, and general public 37.70 percent as on May 31, 2017, the DSE data shows.
LankaBangla followed next, with shares of BDT 1.06 billion changing hands, followed by Paramount Textile BDT 797 million, Nurani Dyeing & Sweater BDT 683 million, IFAD Autos BDT 647 million and Argon Denims BDT 642 million.
Aamra Technologies was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of BDT 534 million changing hands, followed by BDCOM Online BDT 513 million, Beximco Pharma BDT 499 million and Brac Bank BDT 479 million.
The company’s share price closed at Tk 23, remaining unchanged over the previous session.
