Bangladesh’s ruling party man, brother killed

Naogaon, Bangladesh (BBN)-Unidentified miscreants stabbed to death a local leader of ruling Awami League and his younger brother in Naogaon, a northern district of Bangladesh, early Monday.

The victims are: Ohidur Islam, 42, vice-president of Sadar upazila unit of Swechchhasebak League, the volunteer front of ruling Awami League; and his brother Shahin Islam, 32, of Chakprachi village of the same upazila.
The incident occurred around 12:30am at Durgapur in Sadar upazila when the brothers were returning home, said Samir Kumar Sutradhar, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Sadar Model Police Station.
The criminals waylaid the brothers and chopped them indiscriminately, leaving them dead on the spot.
On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
The reason behind the killings was not known immediately.
