Bangladesh’s stocks close flat for second day

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stock prices on the bourses ended flat on Thursday amid fluctuation with rising turnover value as cautious investors adopted ‘go slow’ approach.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,707.48 points, gaining 0nly 5.59 points or 0.15 per cent.

The DSEX went down slightly by 1.41 points or 0.03 per cent to close at 3,571.26. The DS30 rose 0.81 points or 0.06 per cent to close at 1,321.99.

The turnover on the premier bourse crossed the 2.0 billion mark again after one day and stood value of BDT 2.02 billion which is 18.82 per cent higher from previous session’s value of BDT 1.70 billion.

Of the 275 issues traded at the DSE, 155 advanced, 97 declined and 23 remained unchanged.

Titas Gas was the most traded stocks on the day with shares worth BDT 107.61 million changing hands. Orion Pharma, Bengal Windsor Thermoplastic,  Summit Purbanchol Power and Aamra Technologies were the day’s next popular stocks.

Newly listed Bengal Windsor Thermoplastic was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 10.12 per cent while City General Insurance was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 8.46 per cent following its corporate declaration of 10 per cent stock dividend.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed flat with the Selective Categories Index lost 10.84 points to close at 7,049.65 points.

Gainers beat losers 102 to 70 with 21 issues remaining unchanged in the port city bourse that traded 8.35 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of BDT 242.46 million.
