Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks ended higher for the second running session on Tuesday with participation declined slightly as investors followed cautious stance.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended at 4,392.94 points, surging 25.04 points or 0.57 percent from previous session.

The other two indices also closed positive.

The DS30, comprising blue chips gained 3.71 points or 0.23 per cent to close at 1,614.38 points while the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.35 points or 0.23 per cent to close at 1,000.75 points.

DSE turnover came down to BDT 2.80 billion, which was 4.43 percent lower compared to previous session’s value of BDT 2.93 billion.

Out of 296 issues traded, 183 advanced, 70 declined and 43 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.

Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 205.25 million changing hands followed by, Beximco, GP, Square Pharma and Beximco Pharma.

United Airways was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 7.07 percent while Stylecraft was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 5.83 percent.

The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 39.34 points to close at 8,385.86 points.

Gainers beat losers 104 to 75, with 27 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 7.95 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 223.53 million.
