Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks ended higher on Thursday after previous session’s flat movement with improving turnover as investors went for buying spree.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended at 4,554.51 points, gaining 27.30 points or 0.60 percent.
The other two indices closed higher.
The DS30, comprising blue chips gained 12.90 points or 0.76 percent to close at 1,705.92 points.
The DSE Shariah Index went up by 9.68 points or 0.92 percent to close at 1,060.44 points.
DSE turnover improved to BDT 6.32 billion, which was 28.19 percent higher over the previous session’s value of BDT 4.93 billion.
Out of 298 issues traded, 178 declined, 82 advanced and 38 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
GP was the most traded stock with shares worth BDT 402.60 million changing hands followed by MJL BD, Lafarge Surma Cement, Square Pharma and Appllo Ispat.
Tallu Spinning was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 8.69 percent while ICB sixth Mutual Fund was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 9.85 percent.
The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also ended higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 35.85 points to close at 8,600.04 points.
Losers beat gainers 114 to 65, with 39 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 12.23 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 426.40 million.
