Bangladesh’s stocks close higher

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks ended higher for the third running session on Wednesday with significant improvement in turnover as investors took position amid optimism.

The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) --- DSEX ended at 4,595.80 points, gaining 68.86 points or 1.52 per cent.

The DS30, comprising blue chips gained 28.0 points or 1.73 per cent to close at 1,646.50 points. The DSE Index (DSES) went up by 14.11 points or 1.42 per cent to close at 1,001.70 points.

Turnover value on the DSE improved to BDT 5.00 billion, registering 58.73 per cent increase over the previous session’s value.

Out of 296 issues traded, 207 advanced, 75 declined and 14 issues closed unchanged on the DSE floor.

Golden Son was the day’s highest gainer; posting a rise of 9.96 per cent while Hakkani Pulp and Paper was the day’s worst losers, slumping by 7.83 per cet.

The port city bourse --- the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw sharp rise with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX gained 147.86 points to close at 8,901.78 points.

Gainers beat losers 161 to 56, with 9 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 9.0 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 351.05 million.
