Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks closed higher for the fifth consecutive session on Wednesday with significant increase in turnover as investors went for buying spree.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended at 4,694.21 points, gaining 34.22 points or 0.73 percent.

Turnover value on DSE stood at BDT 5.47 billion which was 40 percent higher from previous session’s value of BDT 3.91 billion.

The gainers took a marginal lead over the losers as out of 296 issues traded, 148 advanced, 122 declined and 26 issues closed unchanged on the DSE floor.

The port city bourse-Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index -CSCX-gained 68.43 points to stand at 9,047.58 points.

Gainers beat losers 100 to 92, with 24 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 9.26 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 321.06 million.
