Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Share prices on the bourses rose for the second running session on Tuesday with turnover improved significantly amid countrywide strike enforced by opposition parties.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,732.64 points, gaining 67.22 points or 1.83 per cent.

The DSEX went up by 79.33 points or 2.25 per cent to close at 3,594.42. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) also advanced 22.66 points or 1.73 per cent to close at 1,329.10.

The turnover on the premier bourse improved significantly to BDT 1.87 billion which is 35.08 per cent higher compared to previous session’s BDT 1.47 billion.
Of the 274 issues traded at the DSE, 235 advanced, 31 declined and 8 remained unchanged.

Orion Pharma was the most traded stocks on the day with shares worth BDT 116.44 million changing hands. United Airways, Premier Cement, Unique Hotel and Resorts and RN Spinning were next popular stocks.

CVO Petrochemical Refinery Limited was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.97 per cent while First Lease Investments International was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 19.34 per cent following its price adjustments after record date.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed positive with the Selective Categories Index gained 116.07 points to close at 7,103.57 points.

Gainers beat losers 166 to 14 with 7 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 9.84 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of BDT 249.98 million.
