Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks on the both bourses—Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange ended higher for the third running session on Tuesday with improving turnover value.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,976.90 points, gaining 29.16 points or 0.73 per cent.

The DSE Broad Index (DSEX), the benchmark index of the DSE went up by 31.91 points or 0.82 per cent to close at 3,894.61 points. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) also advanced 9.94 points or 0.70 per cent to close at 1,428.20.

The turnover on the premier bourse stood at BDT 1.62 billion, up by 17.39 per cent from previous session’s two-month low of BDT 1.38 billion.

Of the 270 issues traded on the DSE, 184 advanced, 53 declined and 33 remained unchanged.

Summit Purbanchol Power Company was the most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 109.43 million changing hands. Unique Hotel and Resorts, BSCCL, Southeast Bank and United Airways were the day’s next popular stocks.

Dhaka Insurance was also the day’s top gainer, posting a rise of 8.14 per cent while Sinobangla Industries was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 6.14 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE rose 71.06 points to close at 7,726.39 points.

Gainers beat losers 120 to 41 with 15 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 6.64 million share and mutual fund units, generating BDT 212.37 million in turnover.
