Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The market ended lower on Thursday amid volatile trading throughout the session with turnover declined significantly as investors went for profit booking.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 4,429.63 points, losing 47.45 points or 1.05 per cent.

The other two indices also ended red — the DSEX went down by 45.29 points or 1.06 per cent to close at 4,213.92 points while the blue chip index DS30 declined 17.34 points or 1.10 per cent to close at 1,553.0 points.

Total turnover on DSE declined to BDT 6.85 billion which was 36.06 per cent lower from previous session’s nine months highest value.

Out of 289 issues traded, 226 declined, 46 advanced and 17 remained unchanged in the primer bourse.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company was the day’s most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 504.79 million changing hands.

JMI Syringes & Medical Devices was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.85 per cent on its second of trade at DSE while First Lease Finance and Investment was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 7.05 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended lower with the Selective Categories Index lost 78.11 points to close at 8,286.68 points.

Losers beat gainers 161 to 37, with 9 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 17.50 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 708.51 million.
