Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw downward trend in the early hours of trading on Sunday, the first trading day of the week amid countrywide ongoing blockade.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went down by 13.27 points or 0.26 percent to reach at 4,955.43 points after first 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am.

The other two indices also saw negative trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips lost 5.55 points or 0.29 percent to reach at 1,848.59 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 1.93 points or 0.16 percent to stand at 1,179.77 points.

DSE turnover stands at BDT 243 million when the report was filed at 11am.
Of the issues traded till then, 63 advanced, 102 declined and 37 issues remain unchanged.

Saif Powertec was the most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 27 million changing hands till then followed by Agni Systems, Lafarge Surma Cement, Alltex Industries and IDLC Finance.

The port city bourse – the CSE also saw negative trend in early hours of trading with its Selective Category Index — CSCX – lost 4.23 points to stand at 9,220.01 points, also at 11am.

Of the issues traded till then, 27 gained, 36 declined and 8 remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 19.16 million.
