Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The bourses went down sharply on Wednesday with declining turnover value as investors moved cautiously regarding fresh positioning.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,974.15, losing 73.08 points or 1.80 per cent.

The DSEX went down by 70.53 points or 1.84 per cent to close at 3,762.08 while the blue chip index DS30 lost 20.09 points or 1.42 per cent to close at 1,387.52 points.

The total DSE turnover dropped by 25.1 per cent from previous session’s value and stood at BDT 3.13 billion at the close of the session.

Out of 278 issues traded at DSE, 233 declined, 36 advanced and nine remained unchanged.

Orion Phrama was the most traded stock of the day with shares worth BDT 301.96 million changing hands.

Heidelberg Cement was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 7.54 per cent while Sonarbangla Insurance was the day’s worst loser, losing 16.30 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended lower, with the Selective Categories Index lost 171.27 points to close at 7,410.13 points.

Losers beat gainers by 165 to 20, with nine issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 12.64 million shares and mutual fund units, worth Tk 405.73 million.
