Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks on the bourses— Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed lower for the sixth consecutive session Monday as worried investors continued to sell shares.

The General Index of the DSE — DGEN ended at 4,093.28 points, shedding 51.66 points or 1.24 per cent. In the sixth consecutive trading session, DGEN lost 304 points.

The DSE Broad Index (DSEX) went down by 48.38 points or 1.19 per cent to close at 4,010.27 points. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) also declined by 18.05 points or 1.23 per cent to close at 1,446.54.

The turnover on the premier bourse stood at BDT 3.15 billion, up slightly by 6.77 per cent from previous session’s BDT 2.95 billion.

Of the 270 issues traded on the premier bourse, 43 advanced, 202 declined and 25 remained unchanged.

Newly listed Summit Purbanchol Power Company topped the turnover list with shares worth BDT 428.21 million changing hands.

Islamic Finance was also the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 4.10 per cent while RAK Ceramic was the worst loser, slumping by 15.87 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended lower with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE lost 100.76 points to close at 7,973.70 points.

Losers beat gainers 23 to 152 with 14 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with 10.60 million shares and mutual fund units were trading volume, generating Tk 420.68 million in turnover.
