Bangladesh’s stocks drop for third session

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks continued to decline for the third running session on Tuesday amid sluggish turnover value as investors reluctant to make investment in stocks.

The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) --- DSEX went down by 9.19 points or 0.28 per cent to close at 3,928.48 points.

Total turnover stood at BDT 2.40 billion, registering 11.76 per cent decrease over the previous session’s value.

The gainers took a modest lead over the losers as out of 286 issues traded, 153 advanced, 113 declined and 23 remained unchanged in the prime bourse.

Square Pharma became the top turnover leader for the second running session with shares worth Tk 81.58 million changing hands.

LR Global First Mutual Fund was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 10 per cent while Modern Dyeing was the day’s worst losers, slumping by 9.41per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended marginally lower, with its Selective Categories Index lost 4.24 points to close at 7,669.81 points.

Losers beat gainers 97 to 88, with 23 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 6.67 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 201.79 million.
