Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Bangladesh stocks edged higher for the second running sessions on Sunday with turnover hitting one month high as investors took fresh position amid optimism.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange free-float based index, DSEX ended at 4,163.18 points, gaining 37.91 points or 0.91 per cent. The blue chip DS30 index also advanced 7.14 points or 0.45 per cent to close at 1,568.23 points.
The total turnover value stood at BDT 8.20 billion, a per cent increase over previous session’s value.
The gainers took a modest lead over the losers as out of 288 issues traded, 171 advanced, 92 declined and 25 remained unchanged in the prime bourse.
GrameenPhone (GP) became the top turnover chart with shares worth BDT 485.85 million changing hands followed by Square Pharma, BSCCL, Padma Oil and Meghna Petroleum.
Meghna Life Insurance was the day’s highest gainer positing a rise of 9.97 per cent while ICB Eighth Mutual Fund was the worst loser for the third consecutive session, slumping by 7.81 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE Selective Category Index gained 38.78 points to close at 8,130.70 points.
Gainers beat losers 118 to 86, with 22 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 11.99 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover of BDT 604.72 million.
