Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The market gained marginally on Wednesday with turnover hitting eight-month high as investors’ continued to pour money into the stocks.

 The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 4,328.48 points, gaining marginally by 18.79 points or 0.43 per cent.

The DSEX went up by 40.64 points or 1.00 per cent to close at 4,103.39 points. However, the blue chip index DS30 lost slightly by 1.59 points or 0.10 per cent to close at 1,512.37 points.

Total turnover improved to BDT 7.52 billion, an increase of 16.6 per cent from previous session’s value. It was also highest turnover since October 3, 2012.

Out of 286 issues traded, 156 advanced, 107 declined and 23 remained unchanged in the primer bourse.

Summit Purbanchol Power Company was the day’s most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 345.93 million changing hands.

Singer Bangladesh was also the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.94 per cent while Sandhani Insurance was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 21.54 per cent following its price adjustment after record date.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the Selective Categories Index gained 103.59 points to close at 8,069.98 points.

Gainers beat losers, 113 to 84, with 13 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 21.52 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 667.68 million.
