Bangladesh’s stocks end flat

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stock prices on the bourses ended flat on Wednesday with declining turnover value as most investors followed ‘wait- and- see’ policy.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,701.89 points, gaining 0nly 3.15 points or 0.08 per cent.

The DSEX went up by 1.18 points or 0.03 per cent to close at 3,572.68. The DS30 also rose 2.67 points or 0.20 per cent to close at 1,321.18.

The turnover on the premier bourse stood at BDT 1.70 billion, down by 22.27 per cent from previous session’s BDT 2.09 billion.

Of the 268 issues traded at the DSE, 160 advanced, 90 declined and 18 remained unchanged.

Newly listed Bengal Windsor Thermoplastic was the most traded stocks on the day with shares worth BDT 102.89 million changing hands. Summit Purbanchol Power, United Airways, Orion Pharma and Titas Gas were the day’s next popular stocks.

CVO Petrochemicals Refinery Ltd was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.95 per cent while Midas Financing was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 8.43 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed flat with the Selective Categories Index lost 23.21 points to close at 7,060.49 points.

Of the issues traded on the port city bourse 81 advanced, 88 declined and 19 remained unchanged that traded 7.73 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of BDT 222.35 million.
