Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Bangladesh’s stocks ended flat on Tuesday after previous day’s sharp gains as late hours profit booking wiped out most of early gains.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went up by 5.17 points or 0.11 percent to close at 4,472.17 points from previous session.

However, the other two indices closed in the red. The DS30, comprising blue chips lost 4.39 points or 0.26 percent to close at 1,650.59 points. The DSE Shariah Index declined 1.80 points or 0.17 percent to close at 1,020.67 points.

DSE turnover stood at BDT 4.98 billion which was 11.07 percent lower over the previous session’s 3-month high turnover of BDT 5.60 billion.
Out of 300 issues traded, 174 advanced, 87 declined and 39 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.  

Beximco Limited was the most traded stock with shares worth BDT 351.40 million changing hands followed by Golden Son, ACI, Lafarge Surma Cement and Padma Oil Company.

Pragati Life Insurance was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 8.81percent while ICB First NRB Mutual Fund was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 4.9 percent.

The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed marginally higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 31.61 points to close at 8,483.36 points.

Gainers beat losers 125 to 70, with 24 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 11.06 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 366.02 million.
