Bangladesh’s stocks end flat for fourth day

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The bourses ended flat for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday amid sluggish trading activities as investors remained reluctant to make fresh investments.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,660.59 points, losing 1.80 points or 0.04 per cent.

The DSEX went down by 8.70 points or 0.24 per cent to close at 3,506.56. The DS30 also declined 0.11 points to close at 1,307.34.

Total turnover value remained low at DSE, though improved slightly by 7.2 per cent from the previous session’s value and amounted to BDT 1.30 billion.

Of the 276 issues traded at the DSE, 114 advanced, 126 declined and 36 remained unchanged.

Newly listed Bengal Windsor Thermoplastic was the most traded stocks on the day with shares worth BDT 100.92 million changing hands.

Anwar Galvanizing was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 10 per cent while Jute Spinners was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 8.62 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended marginally lower with the Selective Categories Index declined 21.47 points to close at 6,938.16 points.

Losers beat gainers 103 to 51 with 24 issues remaining unchanged in the port city bourse that traded 5.56 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of BDT 159.39 million.
