Bangladesh’s stocks end higher for 3rd day

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks extended their winning spell for the three consecutive sessions on Thursday with turnover increasing further as enthusiastic investors continued their buying spree.
Brokers said the market kept upward trend as optimistic investors took fresh position, especially on sector specific large-cap issues amid optimism.
Maintaining the previous day’s upturn, the market opened with upward trend and the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) advanced 9.73 points to reach at 5,632 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s major bourse advanced 10.68 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse soared 21.10 points at 11:00am.
The key Index of DSE advanced 27.49 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse added 50.13 points at the closing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went up by 27.49 points or 0.49 per cent to settle at 5,650 points over the previous day.
The two other indices also ended higher.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 9.26 points or 0.46 per cent to finish at 2,044 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 1.71 points or 0.13 per cent to close at 1,309.12 points.
Riding on the optimistic mood, the day’s turnover reached to BDT 13.02 billion, which was 16 per cent higher than the previous day’s BDT 11.27 billion.
However, the losers took a modest lead over the over as out of 330 issues traded, 175 closed lower, 114 closed higher and 41 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
LankaBangla Finance dominated the DSE turnover chart for the third running session with about 10.64 million shares worth nearly BDT 717 million changing hands, followed by City Bank, Shepherd Industries, Keya Cosmetics and Bangladesh Thai Aluminium.
Islamic Finance was the day’s highest gainer, posting 8.58 percent gain, while Al-Haj Textile was the worst loser, losing 5.22 per cent.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index - CSCX – advancing 50.13 points to settle at 10,607 points.
Losers beat gainers as 121 issues closed lower, 104 closed higher and 32 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 26.57 million shares and mutual fund units’ worth more than BDT 843 million in turnover.
