Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The bourses ended higher on Thursday, breaking the ninth sessions’ losing streak with improving turnover value as intuitional investors opted for buying shares.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,654.85 points, gaining 36.37 points or 1.0 per cent.

The DSEX went up by 29.28 points or 0.85 per cent to close at 3,468.18. The DS30 also advanced slightly by 1.78 points or 0.13 per cent to close at 1,284.37.

The turnover on the premier bourse improved to BDT 1.71 billion, an increase of 25.74 per cent from previous session’s value.

Of the 272 traded issues on the prime bourse, 204 advanced, 54 declined and 14 remained unchanged.

United Airways was the day’s most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 88.99 million changing hands.

CMC Kamal was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 10.59 per cent while Takaful Insurance was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 17.82 per cent following its price adjustment after record date.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the Selective Categories Index gained 67.46 points to close at 6,829.25 points.

Gainers beat losers 133 to 36 with 9 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 8.99 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of BDT 221.16 million.
