Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh Stocks extended gaining spell for the second running sessions on Tuesday as investors remained optimistic about the market prospect.
Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the prime bourse of Bangladesh, and Chittagong Stock Exchange, the port city bourse of the country, experienced upward trend.
The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) gained 14.85 points and the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) earned 14.97 points.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened higher and the upbeat note sustained till end of the session.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, end at 4,578.87, gaining 14.85 points or 0.32 per cent.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 10.49 points or 0.60 per cent to finish at 1,744.60.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 3.0 points or 0.27 per cent to end at 1,104.19.
Turnover on DSE rose to BDT 5.26 billion, which was 7.78 percent higher than the previous session’s BDT 4.88 billion.
The gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 321 traded issues, 159 closed higher, 117 lower and 45 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Beximco dominated the turnover chart with share worth BDT 240 million changing hands followed by Beximco Pharma, KDS Accessories, Aftab Automobiles and Quasem Drycells.
Pragati Insurance was the day’s best performer, posting a rise of 10 percent while Rahima Food was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 5.38 per cent.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – advancing 14.97 points to end at 8,522.32.
Gainers beat losers 117 to 90, with 30 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 8.93 million shares and mutual fund units with a value of BDT 259 million.
