Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks edged higher for four straight sessions on Sunday as investors continued on buying spree amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), crossed the 4,600-mark and ended at 4,615.19, gaining 15.28 points or 0.33 per cent, after witnessing volatility in the mid-session.
The two other indices also closed in the positive territory. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 15.95 points or 0.89 percent to close at 1,811.20. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.54 points or 0.22 percent to finish at 1,136.28.
Turnover stood at BDT 5.54 billion on the main bourse, which was 16 per cent higher than the previous session’s BDT 4.77 billion.
The number of gainers and losers were same at 138 issues each while 34 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
ACI Limited was the day’s top turnover leader with shares worth BDT 825 million changing hands followed by Lafarge Surma Cement, GP, ACI Formulations and Beximco Pharma.
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 17 points to close at 8,644.
Losers beat gainers 117 to 96, with 33 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 12.17 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover of BDT 458 million.
