Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks extended gaining streak for the two consecutive sessions on Wednesday as optimistic investors continued their buying spree on some large-cap stocks.
Following the previous session’s positive trend, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 25 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 29 points within first 15 minutes of trading at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX stands at 5,549.84, gaining 28.45 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 30 points.
At 12noon, the DSEX gained 20.58 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 42 points when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
The upward trend stayed till end of the session, finally, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished at 5545 points, gaining nearly 24 points or 0.43 percent after over the previous session.
The two other indices also edged higher. The DS30 index, comprising the blue-chips, advanced 8.75 points or 0.43 percent to settle at 2041 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.35 points or 0.18 percent to close at 1277 points.
Trading activities, however, came down to BDT 6.94 billion, which was 10 percent lower than the previous day’s BDT 7.74 billion.
Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as prices of 151 securities advanced, 139 declined and 35 remained unchanged out of the 325 issues that were traded on the DSE floor.
ONE Bank dominated the day’s turnover chart with shares of BDT 240 million changing hands, followed by Bangladesh Finance, Shahjibazar Power, United Power Generation and Distribution Company and Prime Bank.
FAS Fiannce and Investment was the day’s top gainer, posting 9.63 percent gain while Nitol Insurance was the worst lower, losing 11.15 percent following its price adjustment after record date.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also finished higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – advancing 60.67 points to settle at 10,434.
Gainers beat losers as 127 issues closed higher, 80 closed lower and 34 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city bourse traded 14.07 million shares and mutual fund units worth BDT 417 million in turnover.
