Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks extended their gaining streak for the four straight sessions on Tuesday, their session of the week.
The positive mood was continuing in the Bangladesh’s two bourses since last four sessions, as investors took position on large-cap stocks.
The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange gained 15.61 points while the selective category index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange rose 41.96 points at the closing of the day.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) crossed the 4,800-mark gain and ended at 4,801.80, gaining 15.61 points or 0.32 percent after four hours trading.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 12.73 points or 0.69 percent to settle at 1,837.66.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 4.95 points or 0.42 percent to end at 1,180.42.
DSE turnover, however, came down to BDT 4.20 billion, which was 4.0 percent lower than the previous session’s BDT 4.37 billion.
The losers took a marginal lead over the gainers as out of issues traded 323 issues traded, 159 closed lower, 117 higher and 47 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Beximco Pharma was the day’s top turnover leader with shares of BDT 189.52 million changing hands followed by BSRM, Aman Feed, Islami Bank and Al-Haj Textiles.
Power Grid Company remained the day’s best performer, posting a rise of 9.83 percent while Sonargoan Textiles was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 7.07 percent.
The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 41.96 points to end at 8,947.81.
Losers beat gainers 107 to 102, with 32 issues remained unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 9.03 million shares and mutual fund units with a value of BDT 260.30 million.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s stock markets will remained closed for five days – from September 23 to September 27—on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, so only five trading sessions are left before the Eid vacation.
