Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks extended the losses for the fourth consecutive sessions on Tuesday as cautious investors continued their selling mood.

Following the previous day’s downturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with positive trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 2.0 points while the All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 504 points at 10:45am.

After first hour of trading, the DSE key index advanced more than 12 points while the All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 28 points at 11.30am.

Since then it started to decline. After two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, fell more than 17 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse lost 49 points when the report was filed at 12:30 pm.

The downturn continued till end of the session, finally the key index of the country’s prime bourse closed nearly 12 points lower while the All Share Price Index of the port city bourse fell 49 points at closing.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went down by nearly 12 points or 0.19 percent to settle at 6,198 points.

The two other indices also closed lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 1.30 points or 0.05 percent to close at 2,263 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.22 points or 0.23 percent to finish at 1,393 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.48 billion, which was BDT 4.77 billion in the previous day.

Dragon Sweater topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 194 million changing hands, closely followed United Power BDT 178 million, Paramount Textile BDT 134 million, Brac Bank BDT 122 million and Square Pharma BDT 114 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 113 advanced, 154 declined and 68 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with its All Share Price Index – CAPSI –losing 49 points to finish at 11,180 points.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX – also lost 30 points to close at 11,588 points.

Of the issues traded, 74 gained, 116 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged with BDT 207 million in turnover.
