Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks failed to stay positive at midday on Monday as cautious investors went on shares selling ahead of Eid festival.
Only three trading sessions are left before the Eid vacation began.
Following the previous day’s mild correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened slightly higher amid thin participation of investors.
Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 4.36 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 14 points at 10:30am.
After first hour of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,469 points, advancing 7.62 per cent while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 10 points when the report was filed at 11:00am.
After two hours of the trading, DSEX went down by 2.25 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city’s bourse fell 9.22 points when the report was filing at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After first half of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,459 points, losing 2.25 points or 0.04 percent at 12noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 4.65 points or 0.23 percent to reach at 2026 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 0.89 points or 0.07 percent to reach at 1,260 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.73 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Nurani Dyeing led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 96 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Regent Textile BDT 84 million, Argon Denims BDT 76 million, Paramount Textile BDT 58 million and BSC BDT 53million.
Of the issues traded till then, 125 advanced, 106 declined and 79 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 9.22 points to stand at 10,228 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 58 gained, 79 declined and 43 issues remained unchanged with BDT 250 million in turnover.
