Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks failed to stay in positive trend at midday on Thursday as cautious investors went on selling spree on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous day’s decline, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with a slow trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 12 points while the All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 16 points at 10:45am.

After that the market started to decline. After 30 minutes of trading, DSE key index fell more than 2.0 points while the All Shares Price Index of port city bourse lost 5.0 points at 11.00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE fell more than 16.54 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse lost 59 points when the report was filed at 12noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,156 points, losing 16.54 points or 0.26 percent at 12noon.

The two other indices also saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips lost 4.62 points or 0.20 percent to reach at 2,249 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 0.28 points or 0.02 percent to stand at 1,388 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.28 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

IFAD Autos topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 94 million changing hands, followed by Paramount Textile BDT 64 million, Aamra Networks BDT 56 million, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 49 million and Islami Bank BDT 42 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 74 advanced, 172 declined and 62 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw positive trend till then with its CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) – losing 59 points to reach at 19,039 points.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX – also shed 36 points to stand at 11,500 points, also at 12noon.

Of the issues traded till then, 32 gained, 89 declined and 30 issues remained unchanged with BDT 49 million in turnover.
