Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The bourses gained steeply back to back session on Monday with significant improvement in liquidity as investors are taking long positions amid optimism.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,875.82 points, rising 59.07 points or 1.54 per cent.

The other two indices also posted significant gains—-the DSEX went up by 40.03 points or 1.09 per cent to close at 3,679.83 while the blue chip index DS30 rose 17.39 points or 1.29 per cent to close at 1,360.62 points.

The market participation continued its healthy growth at DSE as total turnover hit 48-session high value of BDT 2.95 billion, going up by 13.1 per cent from previous session’s value.

Of the 277 traded issues at DSE, 181 advanced, 84 declined and 12 remained unchanged.

Orion Pharma was the most traded stock of the day with shares worth BDT 147.65 million changing hands.

Green Delta Insurance was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 10 per cent while ACI Limited was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 18.45 per cent following its price adjustment after record date.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the Selective Categories Index gained 81.27 points to close at 7,253.89 points.

Gainers beat losers 121 to 64 with 13 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 14.01 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of BDT 375.12 million.
