Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks ended higher for the second sessions straight on Wednesday with improvement in turnover as investors continued on buying spree.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended at 4,663.13 points after gaining 15.70 points or 0.33 percent.
The DS30, comprising blue chips gained 13.92 points or 0.78 percent to close at 1,777.25 points.
The DSE Shariah Index went up by 4.84 points or 0.44 percent to close at 1,095.98 points.
DSE turnover improved to BDT 6.36 billion which was 22 percent higher over the previous session’s value of BDT 5.22 billion.
The gainers took a lead over the losers as out of 303 issues traded, 143 advanced, 122 declined and 38 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
Beximco was the day’s most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 269.79 million changing hands followed by Lafarge Surma Cement, MJL BD, ACI and newly listed Shurwid Industries.
ACI Formulations was the day’s highest gainer for the second day, posting a rise of 9.97 percent while ICB was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 18.92 percent following its price adjustment after record date.
The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 33.39 points to close at 8,749.45 points.
Losers beat gainers 111 to 97, with 20 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 13.01 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 591.93 million.
