Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Share prices on the bourses plunged again on Monday with declining turnover value as investors’ went for selling spree amid political unrest.
The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,610.42 points after losing 111.98 points or 3.0 per cent which was 40-month low.
The DSEX plummeted 131.94 points or 3.67 per cent to close at 3,458.10. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) also went down by 46.90 points or 3.50 per cent to close at 1,293.24.
The turnover on the premier bourse dropped to BDT 1.38 billion, down by another 17.36 per cent from previous session’s BDT 1.67 billion.
Of the 266 issues traded at the DSE, 11 advanced, 239 declined and 16 remained unchanged.
Newly listed Orion Pharma was the most traded stocks on the day with shares worth BDT 76.21 million changing hands.
AB Bank First Mutual Fund was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 2.73 per cent while National Housing and Investments was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 9.88 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also declined sharply with the Selective Categories Index plunged 269.96 points or 3.80 per cent to close at 6,828.19 points.
Losers beat gainers 173 to 4 with one issue remaining unchanged on the port city bourse, which traded 6.38 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of BDT 182.74 million.
