Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks kept the morning hour’s positive momentum amid choppy trading on Sunday as optimistic investors remained active on sector specific stocks.
The market opened with an optimistic note in the morning, gaining more than 12 points to reach at 4,938 points within first 15 minutes of trading.
After 30 minutes of trading it lost nearly 6.0 points and came down to 4920, shedding all the early gains, as a section of investor booked quick-gain on stocks which saw substantial gains in the previous few sessions.
But, the market sentiments remain high after nearly two hours of trading amid increased participation from investors.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange, the prime bourse of the country opened positive in the morning, advancing 12.52 points or 0.25 percent to stand at 4,938.24 points within first 15 minutes of the day’s trading at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX, the benchmark index DSE went down by 5.68 points or 0.11 per cent to stand at 4,920.04.
After nearly two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange reached at 4,937.68 points, gaining 11.96 points or 0.24 percent at 12:20pm.
However, the two other indices saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 0.33point or 0.02 percent to reach at 1,805.68 points at 12:20pm.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 0.06 points or 0.01 percent to reach at 1,172.12 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.06 billion when the report was filed at 12:20pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 148 advanced, 112 declined and 52 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor riding on Bangladesh Building Systems and Summit Alliance Port.
Bangladesh Building Systems remained the most traded stocks with shares BDT 285 million changing hands, closely followed by Summit Alliance Port BDT 239 million, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 217 million, Appollo Ispat BDT 151 million and Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 148 million till the report was filed at 12:20pm.
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also maintained the upward trend after two hours of trading as its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 22.68 points to stand at 9186.43 points, also at 12:20pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 107 gained, 72 declined and 36 issues remained unchanged with BDT 210 million in turnover.
