Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed positive trend at midday on Thursday, the budget declaration day, as the optimistic investors continued their buying spree on large-cap stocks.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith is set to unveil the national budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2017-18 today at 1:30pm.
Following the previous two days’ positive trend, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid increased investors’ participation.
After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 13 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 22 points when the report was filing at 10:30am.
After 45 minutes of trading, the DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5424 points, dancing 21 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 37 points at 10.45am.
The upward trend sustained after first half of the trading session and DSEX went up by 18.55 points while the Selective Category Index of port city’s bourse advanced 57 points when the report was filing at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at 5,422 points, advancing 18.55 points or 0.34 percent at 12noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 6.76 points or 0.35 percent to reach at 2012 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.52 points or 0.20 percent to reach at 1,254 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.46 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Nurani Dyeing, which made trading debut today, led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 223 million changing hands till then, closely followed by LankaBangla Finance BDT 218 million, Brac Bank BDT 152 million, IFAD Autos BDT 119 million and MJL Bangladesh BDT 117 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 154 advanced, 102 declined and 43 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also stayed upward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –gaining 57 points to stand at 10,186 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 94 gained, 48 declined and 26 issues remained unchanged with BDT 191 billion in turnover.
