Bangladesh’s stocks maintain downward trend at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the downward trend at midday on Sunday as risk-averse investors continued their selling spree on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous week’s sharp fall, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed negative trend with low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 2.67 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse fell 37 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 14 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) lost 42 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX plummeted 35 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 80 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,144 points, losing 35 points or 0.56 percent at 12noon.

The two other indices also saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 14 points or 0.62 percent to reach at 2,246 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 4.95 points or 0.35 percent to reach at 1,386 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.06 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

National Tubes was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 52 million changing hands, closely followed by IFAD Autos BDT 51 million, Alif Manufacturing Company BDT 50 million, BD Thai Aluminum BDT 48 million and Keya Cosmetics BDT 35 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 67 advanced, 184 declined and 45 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw downward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of – losing 80 points to stand at 19,018 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 49 points to reach at 11,487 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 30 gained, 88 declined and 17 issues remained unchanged with BDT 50 million in turnover.
