Bangladesh’s stocks maintain positive note at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive note at midday on Wednesday as investors continued to show their buying appetite on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous five days’ upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 18 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse rose 30 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 19 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse rose 36 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced nearly 33 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 81 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,313 points, advancing 32.98 points at 12noon.

The two other indices also saw upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 10.75 points or 0.46 percent to reach at 2,302 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 8.78 points or 0.62 percent to reach at 1,411 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.24 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

United Power was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 248 million changing hands, followed by Dragon Sweater BDT 106 million, IFAD Autos BDT 98 million, Islami Bank BDT 97 million and Grameenphone BDT 62 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 177 advanced, 79 declined and 54 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of –advancing 81 points to stand at 19,503 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 51 points to reach at 11,792 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 93 gained, 41 declined and 26 issues remained unchanged with BDT 109 million in turnover.
