Bangladesh’s stocks maintain positive trend at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the positive trend at midday on Monday as investors remained active on some large-cap stocks ahead of year-closing.

Following the previous day’s marginal correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive trend with low trading activities.

After first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 7.88 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse gained 3.45 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse rose 10.82 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse advanced 8.26 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX rose more than 19 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 64 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,233 points, advancing 19.68 points or 0.32 percent at 12noon.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 5.62 points or 0.25 percent to reach at 2,245 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 1.23 points or 0.09 percent to reach at 1,374 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.58 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Alif Manufacturing Company was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 156 million changing hands, closely followed by Shahjalal Islami Bank BDT 133 million, GP BDT 119 million, City Bank BDT 48 million and square Pharmaceuticals BDT 46 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 143 advanced, 114 declined and 58 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of –advancing 64 points to stand at 19,306 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also rose 39 points to reach at 11,662 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 70 gained, 39 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged with BDT 65 million in turnover.
