Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive trend at midday on Thursday, the last trading session of 2017, as investors continued their buying appetite on large-cap stocks.
Following the previous two days’ upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 35 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse rose 75 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced nearly 30 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse rose 80 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced 26 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 94 points at 12noon when the report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,212 points, advancing 26 points or 0.42 percent at 12noon.
The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 7.83 points or 0.35 percent to reach at 2,269 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 2.26 points or 0.16 percent to reach at 1,382 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.59 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Islami Bank was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 167 million changing hands, followed by Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 89 million, National Bank BDT 72 million, Rupali Bank BDT 61 million and Nahee Aluminum BDT 48 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 177 advanced, 67 declined and 61 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of –advancing 94 points to stand at 19,217 points, also at 12noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 57 points to reach at 11,619 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 89 gained, 36 declined and 27 issues remained unchanged with BDT 102 million in turnover.
