Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive trend at midday Sunday as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap stocks encouraged by the government’s move to mitigate the ongoing liquidity crunch.
Following the previous session’s steep rise, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse soared more than 83 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 60 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX rose 83.32 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse soared 160 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 105 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 301 points at 12noon when the report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,703 points, advancing 105 points or 1.88 percent at 12noon.
The two other indices also saw upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 28 points or 1.35 percent to reach at 2,134 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 19 points or 1.44 percent to stand at 1,333 points till then.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.10 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
LankaBangla Finance was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 114 million changing hands, closely followed by Beximco BDT 86 million, Monno Ceramic BDT 75 million, Mercantile Bank BDT 59 million and BRAC Bank BDT 56 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 281 advanced, 19 declined and 21 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse –gaining 301 points to stand at 17,516 points, also at 12noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 184 points to reach at 10,587 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 150 gained, 11 declined and 6 issues remained unchanged with BDT 75 million in turnover.
