Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive trend at midday on Wednesday as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap stocks encouraged by the government’s steps to mitigate the ongoing liquidity crunch.

Following the previous day’s correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw upward trend in early trading amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse gained more than 34 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 60 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 38 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 48 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 38 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 88 points at 12noon when the report was filed.


DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,828 points, advancing 39.29 points or 0.66 percent at 12noon.

The two other indices also saw upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 17.29 points or 0.78 percent to reach at 2,183 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.62 points or 0.34 percent to stand at 1,355 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.21 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

BRAC Bank was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 254 million changing hands, closely followed by IFAD Autos BDT 134 million, Aamra Networks BDT 79 million, Dragon Sweater BDT 76 million and Monno Ceramic BDT 72 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 197 advanced, 70 declined and 44 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.


The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – gaining 88 points to stand at 17,937 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 54 points to reach at 10,842 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 94 gained, 46 declined and 21 issues remained unchanged with BDT 72 million in turnover.
