Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks managed to maintain upward trend in morning-to-midday trade on Thursday, the last trading session of the week.
The market opened with an optimistic note in the morning, gaining more than 30 points to reach at 4,937 points within first five minutes of trading.
After 20 minutes of trading it stands at 4907, eroding some early gains as a section of investor booked marginal gain on their holdings.
But, the market sentiments remain high after nearly two hours of trading amid increased participation from investors.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
The Dhaka Stock Exchange, the prime bourse of the country opened higher in the very beginning, advancing 16.53 points, or 0.34 percent to stand at 4,923.45 points, within first 15 minutes of the day’s trading at 10:45am.
After nearly two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange reached at 4,933.29 points gaining 26.37 points or 0.54 percent at 12:20pm.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose 13.42 points or 0.75 percent to reach at 1,810.78 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also earned 8.08 points or 0.69 percent to reach at 1,177.11 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 5.18 billion when the report was filed at 12:20pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 126 advanced, 126 declined and 54 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor as investors were active both sides of trading fence.
The Lafarge Surma Cement was remained the most traded stocks with shares BDT 619 million changing hands followed by Bangladesh Building Systems, Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills, Far Chemical and Keya Cosmetics.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also maintained the upward trend after two hours of trading as its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 33.62 points to stand at 9184.53 points, also at 12:30pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 79 gained, 92 declined and 38 issues remained unchanged with BDT 279 million in turnover.
