Bangladesh’s stocks nosedive amid low turnover

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks went down on the bourses at opening day of the week on Sunday with declining turnover value as most investors went for selling spree.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,860.12, shedding 78.37 points or 1.99 per cent.

The total turnover at DSE stood at BDT 1.70 billion, down by 5.55 per cent from previous session’s BDT 1.80 billion.

Of the 271 companies and mutual fund units were traded on the DSE and among them 233 declined, 26 advanced and 12 remained unchanged.

Newly listed Orion Pharma was the day’s most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 185.34 million changing hands.

ICB First NRB Mutual Fund was the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 4.03 per cent while Orion Pharma was the worst loser, plunging by 15.02 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also  went down with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE plunged 155.26 points or 2.03 per cent to close at 7,471.21 points.

Losers beat gainers 159 to 10 with 6 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 6.16 million share and mutual fund units, generating turnover of BDT 216.55 million.
