Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks on the both bourses—Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange ended lower for the second session on Wednesday with declining turnover value amid nationwide strike.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,749.07 points, shedding 69.22 points or 1.81 per cent.

The DSE Broad Index (DSEX), the benchmark index of the DSE went down by 82.90 points or 2.22 per cent to close at 3,642.70 points. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) also lost 23.96 points or 1.74 per cent to close at 1,352.67.

The turnover on the premier bourse stood at BDT 1.41 billion, down by 6.62 per cent from previous session’s BDT 1.51 billion.

Of the 264 issues traded at the DSE, 215 declined, 31 advanced and 18 remained unchanged.

Unique Hotel and Resorts was the most traded stocks on the day with shares worth BDT 94.89 million changing hands. Summit Purbanchol Power, Orion Pharma, United Airways and Square Pharma were the day’s next popular stocks.

First Bangladesh Fixed Income Fund was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 8.04 per cent while Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 8.58 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also went down with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE plunged 180.33 points to close at 7,200.47 points.

Losers beat gainers 153 to 10 with three issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 6.31 million share and mutual fund units, generating BDT 200 million in turnover.
